10-20-30 We Should Leave No Community Behind
In the United States, there are 474 counties where 20 percent or more of the population has been living below the poverty line for the last 30 years. The counties are as diverse as our great nation; Appalachian communities in Kentucky and North Carolina, Native American communities in South Dakota and Alaska, Latino communities in Arizona and New Mexico and African American communities in Mississippi and South Carolina. They lack access to quality schools, affordable quality health care and adequate job opportunities.
A New Direction
The New Direction for America advances the right priorities – to make our nation safer and our economy fairer; to make health care and college more affordable; to energize America with energy independence; and to guarantee a dignified retirement for all Americans.
American Jobs and Closing Tax Loopholes Act
The "American Jobs and Closing Tax Loopholes Act" makes significant investments in American jobs and cuts taxes to help the nation continue along the path of economic recovery and job growth. The economy has added 573,000 jobs since December-this bill includes provisions to continue that growth.
The Affordable Health Care for America Act provides quality affordable health care for all Americans and controls health care cost growth.
Make It In America
When we Make It In America, we create jobs to lead the world economy. America’s national manufacturing strategy creates the high-skill, high-wage jobs of the future—promoting American competitiveness, innovation, and exports.
Rural Star - Rural Energy Savings Program Act
The Rural Energy Savings Program Act provides loans to American families, small businesses and farmers in rural communities to renovate their homes, farms or businesses to become more energy-efficient. These programs will offer loans of about $3,000 to $7,500 to eliminate the upfront cost of home energy upgrades, which customers will then repay over 10 years on their electric bill.
